According to the Razorimages.com crew, this is a 3D rough image of the Lucky13 fixed gear track bike that they designed. However, its futuristic body lines won’t see manufacturing until the design is backed by investors. Let’s hope these skillful designers find the money they’re looking for to get the ball rolling.

The love for cycling is spreading and becoming evermore apparent in t-shirts. When We Were Kids, an emerging independent apparel site, has dropped a shirt of their own with three different colorways. Their new shirts feature “velovelo” under graphics of a cyclist on the front.

According to an article written by Sena Christian in the Sacramento News & Review – a free weekly publication that covers the entertainment scene of Sacramento, Ca. – Kevin Wehr, an environmental sociology professor at C.S.U.S, continued his voyage solo after he and some friends arrived at Mexico’s cost from Mexico City by bicycle. 1,000 miles later on his $50 single-speed bike, Christian reported, Wehr ended up in Guatemala. Wehr traveled to Mexico in search of a better understanding for “the land and the people, said the author. It would also be an experience Wehr could share with his students. But Wehr’s journey down south wasn’t the only time he hopped on a bike for work.

While in graduate school, Wehr delivered packages by way of a fixed gear bike – according to the article. In his 5-years of experience as a bike-messenger, suggested Christian, the emerging subculture of folks who rode fixed for fun bewildered Wehr. His field of study and personal experience as a bike-messenger later served his desire to study this culture consisting of cyclists who in Christians words “rides a fixed-gear bike, dresses distinctively, doesn’t wear a helmet and is attracted to risk”. In 2009 his findings, Christina states, will be summed up and sold in bookstores. That’s right Wehr is writing an ethnography on the culture of the bicycle messenger. Fixtee, whose slogan is “New Kustom Bike Tee’s Every Month…”, is testing the demand for there fixed gear themed t-shirt by requesting at least fifty people to vouch for their design before moving into production. This month’s tee features a bike seat with wings and a broken board like object behind it. The fixie themed t-shirts are being offered in yellow, black, white, and red. The price is estimated at about $36.00, which includes shipping. Since production is contingent upon feedback, drop them a line if you like this design; there’s no obligation to purchase by doing so.

Nike Air Force 1 hype has been prevalent throughout fashion, music, events, etc, and now the fixed gear scene. The Wilson Brothers, who also designed the Stussy Zoomer, in tribute to sneakers’ silver anniversary, modeled a steel frame fixed gear bike after the Nike AF 1. The track bike “Air Force 1 Silver Service” features an all-around white theme with a hint of black attributes, resembling the Nike Air Force 1 as best a bike can. Today, the fixie sits on display at Dover Street Market in London.

Not only are fixed gear bikes dominating traffic congested city streets but they’ve also managed to weasel their way into fashion show and on runways. Track bikes have come a long way since their existence and this photo shoot illustrates that these bikes, which were once used predominantly by male cyclists, are finding more homes than ever before.

One of the reasons why fixed gear riding is beginning to boom in cities around the word is because a fixie can be made up of nearly anything – even bamboo. That’s just what this fixed gear beauty’s frame is made of. The bamboo frame is supported by bamboo fiber wraps, which gives the rider the stability he/she needs. The uniqueness of this bike goes beond the frame, too. The handlebars are actual real bullhorn handlebars off of a Texas bull. Despite the materials that this bike is made from, it’s limits aren’t any different from the next fixie.
