In collaboration with Obey, Fuji, the founders of the “Tour of Japan” has created this retro looking Limited addition Fixed Gear track bike for the urban streets of every city. The Fuji Elios 2 frame, feature a Matte Black finish with graphics by OBEY. The bike is dressed in gold parts, which complements the frame’s color.

When I first set eyes on Fuji x Obey’s retro looking track bike at a shop in San Francisco, it didn’t appeal to me. For a manufactured bike, it certainly wasn’t bad; but for a Fuji x Obey, I expected a lot more, as I do with all collaborations. However, their popularity among urban boutique display windows allowed for many double takes. I liked the over all design, its colors, and high quality parts; I came to the conclusion that it was just something about Obey’s graphics that irked me. MSRP: $1420.

kanye west track bike 1 Kanye West Rides A Fixed Gear Bike

It’s not only the underground world that has its eyes on the culture of fixed gear riding anymore. Hip hop artist Kanya West rides a fixie, too. Apparently, purchasing a Cinelli Vigorelli at Track Star wasn’t enough for Kanye. Soon after, It was the boys down at Brooklyn Machine Works who had the pleasure of whipping something special up for the platinum selling artist. The bike shop’s choice of frame was their Gansta’ frame, a frame that Brad (Kidrobot’s track bike creator) informed me of with praise early on. To give the Gansta’ a Kanya West touch, Brooklyn Machine Works incorperated a cream yellow glow-in-the-dark paint jobs complimented by all black coated parts. The specs on the rest of the bike are unclear at the moment but I’m sure Mr. West requested nothing but the best.

Not only are fixed gear bikes dominating traffic congested city streets but they’ve also managed to weasel their way into fashion show and on runways. Track bikes have come a long way since their existence and this photo shoot illustrates that these bikes, which were once used predominantly by male cyclists, are finding more homes than ever before.

cog necklace 2 Cog Necklace

This cog necklace is pretty blingin’, considering it was once a functioning part on someone’s bike. If your looking to accessorize yourself in efforts to display you love for fixed gear riding, creating your own cog necklace might be of interest. FYI- From what I hear, it takes a good amount of elbow grease to transform a used cog into a piece of jewelry like this one. However, it can be done.

An ugly chick flying down the street can be masked by the beauty of Aerospoke wheels, a vibrant color scheme, and a few hipster accessories the same way “celebrity sunglasses” can enhance almost any chicks appeal. However, we’d like to believe there is some true beauty shared between both rider and fixie in this photo shoot.

Vans are coming out with a new line up of sneakers geared for fixed gear riders called Vans 45LX. The new sneaker was designed to be more fixie friendly then their predecessors. It features reflective shoe-laces and logos, funky fresh colors, and a unique design – which includes a more comfortable fit when riding around town, and the laces start up higher to avoid getting tangled in toe-clips. A matching saddle for Co2 or anything else you can stuff in there is also included.

Road warriors everywhere are adopting shorter handlebars, usually by modifying their existing straight bars. The handlebars give the rider a more stream line look when smashin’ through traffic.
