Trek District 2009
One unique fixed gear bike in particular stood out from the rest at the Trek World 2008 event, where Trek revealed their lineup for 2009. The Trek District – a single speed fixed Gates common belt drive bike (no chain) with front and rear breaks and an urban look – is one of many fixed gear bikes to emerge in 09’ that incorporates features for the novice fixed gear rider. The Trek District features a glossy gray Trek specific frame with orange graphics, orange wheel sets, brown handlebar grips and seat, and an optional chain guard. MSRP $929.99

This is not fixed. It is a free wheel single speed.

Unfortunately it’s not a fixie, and there is no easy way to convert it to a fixed gear that I know of. I asked Trek about some of the details, here’s a link to what they had to say..

The belt drive was originally done in the early 1990s by eCycle.
Trek is taking credit for it.

I don’t think trek is taking credit for anything. Gates wich I believe is a division of spot has perfected this drive and has had it’s hands in belt drives for some time. You can not compair a carbon belt drive to those old rubber drive belts they tried in the 70′s kudos to trek for not fearing new tech.
