The Specialized Langster lineup for 2009 consists of six complete fixed gear bikes, five of which represent a different major city as its theme, and one frame set with an edge for track competition.

The Specialized Langster Las Vegas, one of the fixies that hosts a city theme, features graphics of poker chips, rolling dice, and the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign on a Matt Black with a hint of Gold Specialized specific frame.

Other themes include: Japanese style graphics to represent Tokyo, the brand Specialized written in a 60’s like text and more various hippie related graphics equaling San Francisco, umbrellas and some rain for Seattle, and last but not least an over-all yellow colorway and taxi stripes for nothing less than New York.

Lastly, the plain Jane “Langster” is a not as “specialized” of a track bike in relation to theme. The rest of the specifications are identical.

The relatively high seat post, when compared to most track bikes is one of the most commented design features about the new Fuji Track Pro. From what we’ve heard, the seat post is like black liquorish, you either hate it or you love it. The Trek District features a glossy gray Trek specific frame with orange graphics, orange wheel sets, brown handlebar grips and seat, and an optional chain guard. MSRP $929.99

Besides its street appeal, very little is known about this Fuji track bike. However, its close resemblance of Fuji’s 2008 Fuji x Obey has speculators guessing this fixed gear bike is the Fuji x Obey 2009 version. The urban styles of both track bikes are emerging in cities everywhere, but without the help of manufacturing assembly lines; More commonly bikes like these usually start life out at someone’s home, one piece at a time. Has Fuji tapped into the urban fixed gear scene? We’d like to thinks so.

Like the Fuji x Obey that was dropped for 2008, Fuji’s untitled track bike features a black/charcoal matted theme with a red seat post, frame neck, handlebars, wheel sets, tires, graphics, and other red accents rather than gold – to accentuate the bikes beauty. The only clue Fuji left us with is the word “League” (whatever that means) printed on the frame. We were unable to get our hands on any specs, but we’re on the look out.

Introducing the new addition to Bianchi Pista in 2009. Because most conventional cyclist object to riding a fixed gear for the absence of a break to stop with, Bianch has added another Pista to their 2009 line up. The new Bianchi Pista 2009 line up will include the look and feel of a fixed gear bike but with breaking amenities. Not only will the Pista include front and rear breaks for the first time since its existence, but it will also have a straightbar rather than bullhorn handlebars. Bianchi will offer their conventional cyclist friendly track bike in two of their past color schemes, blue and chrome, and at a slightly higher price than Bianchi’s standard Pista.

If you’ve every tried taking your bike on a plane ride, you probably remember encountering an additional expense of about $60 or more (as if there wasn’t enough fees associated with travel already). To avoid some of the headaches when traveling, Freeman Transport, a one of a kind bike building company, has designed some of their inventory with the traveling bike enthusiast in mind. The Freeman Transport Collapsible Fixed Gear bike breaks down to fit into its custom bag so you can bring it as your carry-on. Not only does its unique design spare you some doe, it does it looking good, too. Judging strictly off of appearance, Freeman’s fixed gear is clean looking, which surprised me because usually all-in-one products tend to lack in certain areas – appearance being one of them. It comes with a case which resembles an over-sized messenger bag and goes with the color scheme of the bike, matted army green and black. No word on its performance but we’ll keep you posted.
